Prof. Xudong Jiang (Fellow IEEE)

Xudong Jiang, IEEE
Fellow, received the B.Eng. and M.Eng. from University of
Electronic Science and Technology of China (UESTC), and the Ph.D.
degree from Helmut Schmidt University, Hamburg, Germany. During his
work in UESTC, he received two Science and Technology Awards from
the Ministry for Electronic Industry of China. From 1998 to 2004, he
was with the Institute for Infocomm Research, A-Star, Singapore, as
a Lead Scientist and the Head of the Biometrics Laboratory, where he
developed a system that achieved the most efficiency and the second
most accuracy at the International Fingerprint Verification
Competition in 2000. He joined Nanyang Technological University
(NTU), Singapore, as a Faculty Member, in 2004, and served as the
Director of the Centre for Information Security from 2005 to 2011.
Currently, he is a professor of NTU.Dr
Jiang holds 7 patents and has authored over 200 papers with over 60
papers in IEEE journals, including 18 papers in IEEE T-IP and
10 papers in IEEE T-PAMI. His publications are well-cited
with H-index 63 and 8 of his papers were
listed as the top 1% highly cited papers in the academic field of
Engineering by Essential Science Indicators.He
served as IFS TC Member of IEEE Signal Processing Society, Associate
Editor for IEEE SPL, Associate
Editor for IEEE T-IP and
the founding editorial board member for IET Biometrics
Currently, Dr Jiang is an IEEE Fellow and serves as Senior Area
Editor for IEEE T-IP and Editor-in-Chief for IET
Biometrics. His current research interests include image
processing, pattern recognition, computer vision, machine learning,
and biometrics.

Prof. Bingli Jiao, Visiting Research Collaborator
Peking University, China
Dr. Bingli JIAO obtained BS and MS from Peking University in 1983 and 1988, and obtained Ph.D. from University of Saaland, F.R. Germany, in 1995, respectively. In 2000, he became a full professor in Peking University. He is a founder of advanced institute of wireless communication and signal processing. Now, he serves as the director of the institute. His researches are in the field of wireless communication, primarily, on the problems of physical layer. The research work includes wireless access techniques of CDMA and OFDM, adaptive filter, MIMO. So far, has published more than 50 papers in Journals and Conferences. Recently, he led a national team working in field of m-health care.

Professor Dr Chandratilak De Silva LIYANAGE,

Professor Liyanage C De Silva received BSc Eng
(Hons) degree from the University of Moratuwa Sri
Lanka in 1985, MPhil degree from The Open University
of Sri Lanka in 1989, MEng and PhD degrees from the
University of Tokyo, Japan in 1992 and 1995
respectively. He was with the University of Tokyo,
Japan, from 1989 to 1995. From April 1995 to March
1997 he pursued his postdoctoral research as a
researcher at ATR (Advanced Telecommunication
Research) Laboratories, Kyoto, Japan. In March 1997
he joined The National University of Singapore as a
Lecturer where he was an Assistant Professor till
June 2003. He was with the Massey University, New
Zealand from 2003 to 2007. Currently he is the
Professor of Engineering and the Deputy Dean of the
Faculty of Integrated Technologies

Liyanage has published
over 160 technical papers in these areas in
international conferences, journals and Japanese
national conventions and holds one Japanese national
patent, which was successfully sold to Sony
Corporation Japan for commercial utilization, and he
holds 1 US and 1 Brunei patents. Liyanage’s works
have been cited as one of the pioneering work in the
bimodal (audio and video signal based) emotion
recognition by many researchers. His papers so far
have been cited by more than 2000 times (according
to
scholar.google.com) with an h-index of 20.
He received the Best
Student Paper Award from SPIE (The International
Society for Optical Engineering) for an outstanding
paper contribution to the International Conference
on Visual Communication and Image Processing (VCIP)
in 1995. He also received National University of
Singapore, the Department of ECE Teaching
commendation award in 2001 and 2002 consecutively.
He is a senior member
of IEEE USA and the interim chair of IEEE Brunei
Darussalam Subsection. He was the General Chair of
the 4th International Conference Computational
Intelligence and Robotics and Autonomous Systems
(CIRAS2007) held in New Zealand.
